Building Technician - Temporary

Overview

At PNNL, the Operational Systems Directorate (OSD) leads the delivery of the laboratory’s 10‑year, $1.2billion campus construction portfolio, overseeing operations and facility services. The Facilities & Infrastructure Operations (F&I‑O) Division is responsible for operating and maintaining PNNL’s buildings, including plant engineering, fabrication, craft services, and more.

• Perform technical tasks supporting engineering and maintenance activities related to construction, design, specification, startup, and operation of facility mechanical, chemical, and electrical systems.
• Work from schematics, diagrams, written or verbal instructions, layouts, or defined plans.
• Collaborate with facilities organizations and internal customers to support safety and reliability.
• Support general maintenance and repair of facility equipment.
• Coordinate facility outages, postings, portable fire extinguisher and emergency response equipment inspections.

• Minimum:
  Technical Institute Graduate (TIG) or AA degree or higher with 4 years of related experience, OR high‑school diploma/GED with 6 years of related experience.
• Preferred:
  Understanding of DOE facilities and working environment; demonstrated customer‑service experience; experience performing both preventive and corrective maintenance; coordinating custodial work, pest control, grounds maintenance, and exterior building upkeep.

This full‑time temporary position is anticipated to last approximately six months, with the possibility of conversion to a regular staff position.
