Position Summary
As part of River Valley Church's staff, the Campus Facility Support role is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, cleanliness, and minor-to-medium repair needs of their assigned campus. This role keeps the building safe, clean, and functional on a daily basis, and serves as the on-the-ground point of contact for facility issues at the campus. For repairs or projects beyond the scope of this role, the Campus Facility Support coordinates with the Facilities Director to identify the right solution, vendor, or resource.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position. All duties below are performed during the employee's scheduled work hours; the role does not carry after-hours or on-call responsibility.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCampus Facility Support is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:
Day-to-Day Building Maintenance- Performs daily and periodic walkthroughs of the campus to identify maintenance, cleanliness, or safety concerns
- Monitors security of the building while performing duties; secures the building when leaving by checking and securing systems, doors, and windows
- Can assist in opening and closing the building as scheduled, including arming and disarming alarm systems
- Sets room thermostats, restocks supplies, and performs other routine building upkeep tasks as assigned
- Moves furniture and equipment for room set-ups, relocations, and event support
- Performs routine grounds upkeep, including sidewalk snow removal and ice control as needed for the campus
- Performs periodic floor cleaning and vacuuming across all flooring types using hand and powered cleaning equipment
- Dusts and cleans vertical and horizontal surfaces, including furniture, glass, windows, walls, doors/hardware, desks, counters, and play/nursery areas
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, fixtures, and kitchen facilities
- Selects and uses cleaning materials and equipment appropriate to each task, following label instructions and health/safety standards
- Removes and disposes of routine building waste and trash, including proper disposal of confidential waste
- Performs minor repairs within their skill set, such as patching drywall, fixing loose hardware, replacing light bulbs/ballasts, minor plumbing fixes (e.g., running toilets, clogged drains), and similar light maintenance
- Performs basic preventative maintenance tasks as directed (e.g., filter changes, visual equipment checks)
- Identifies issues at the edge of their skill set or scope and escalates to the Facilities Director with a clear description of the problem
- Maintains a working knowledge of the campus's building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) sufficient to recognize and report issues, even when not authorized to repair them directly
- Partners with the Facilities Director and campus leadership to scope out-of-scope repairs or projects that require a contractor, vendor, or specialized expertise
- Provides on-site access, context, and support for vendors or contractors working at the campus (e.g., unlocking areas, answering site-specific questions)
- Relays campus-specific facility needs, recurring issues, or improvement ideas to the Facilities Director and campus leadership
- Enter and tracks facility requests in the work order system as trained by the Facilities Director

- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
- Basic working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) sufficient to identify and report issues; ability to perform minor repairs within skill level
- Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment and use mechanical lifts
