Gaughan Companies is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team in Shakopee. This position is responsible for maintaining the overall condition, safety, appearance, and functionality of residential and commercial properties while delivering exceptional service to residents and tenants.

The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of maintenance, repair, preventative maintenance, and property upkeep duties. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards across all assigned properties.

• Complete general property maintenance and repairs
• Ensure building heating and cooling systems are operating properly
• Replace water softener salt pellets, air filters, and other routine maintenance items
• Complete maintenance work orders accurately and efficiently
• Perform preventative maintenance to reduce future repairs and maintain building systems
• Conduct daily and weekly property inspections and building walks
• Inspect units and common areas to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper operation
• Complete apartment turns and prepare units for new occupancy
• Perform light cleaning, trash removal, and grounds upkeep as needed
• Maintain garages, common areas, sidewalks, and property appearance
• Coordinate vendor scheduling and property service needs
• Order, pick up, and monitor maintenance supplies and materials
• Perform minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance, and general repair work
• Respond to maintenance emergencies and urgent service requests
• Participate in after-hours and weekend on-call rotations
• Perform fire and life safety checks and report hazards immediately
• Maintain tools, equipment, and storage areas in a clean and organized manner

• Minimum one (1) year of maintenance experience
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to use a smartphone or mobile device to manage work orders and communicate with residents and vendors
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

• Experience in residential or commercial property maintenance
• HVAC certification or related experience
• Experience with plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, or building systems
• Property management maintenance experience
