PEAK Genetics has an opportunity available to join our barn staff as a Livestock Specialist - Bull Handler in Shawano, WI! In this role, you will be a member of a highly skilled team supporting the daily care, health, and collection of our elite bulls. This team is also responsible for the maintenance of the facilities and equipment. As a Livestock Specialist for PEAK Genetics, you will be surrounded by people who are passionate about the agriculture industry, bovine genetics, and client satisfaction.

HOURS AVAILABLE

• Monday-Friday, 4:30am - 1:30pm, rotational weekends and holidays

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Handle sires of varying ages and sizes in a calm, confident manner for optimum production
• Work in a system using established protocols
• Perform regular livestock care including feeding, cleaning, moving cattle, assisting with health testing and veterinary treatments, and other routine tasks
• Operate company farm equipment and vehicles
• Clean and maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment

QUALIFICATIONS

• Comfortable working with large animals
• Willingness to learn and follow company protocols
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Ability to perform occasional planned weekend duties
• Capability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
• Capacity to work on feet and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to move safely through a tight space of 13-15' to exit livestock pens in case of emergency
• Experience detecting health and disease symptoms in cattle
• Ability to perform basic equipment and building maintenance repairs
• Post-secondary education in agriculture or related field

• Basic computer skills working with Microsoft Office
