Job SummaryResponsible for all Plastics Business Unit maintenance related functions to support world-class plant operations. Is responsible for leading and directing all maintenance team activities, development and adherence to preventative maintenance plans, managing departmental budget, and providing a collaborative approach to excellence in safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence activities.
Primary Responsibilities- Provides safety leadership within the maintenance team, including development of new safety policies and procedures to support world-class practices.
- Supports defined safety regulations, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
- Provides strong leadership and mentorship of the maintenance team, by striving for excellence.
- Exhibits strong organizational skills and the ability to sustain.
- Assists in the hiring, training, and supervision of maintenance staff, providing guidance, and fosters a positive, employee‑centric work environment.
- Supervises daily maintenance tasks, schedules repairs, and ensures all production equipment is in good working order.
- Creates and implements preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of assets.
- Responsible for diagnosing and resolving equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
- Supports control of maintenance expenditures.
- Controls and monitors critical component inventory for machinery in ERP system to minimize plant downtime, understands how to evaluate the need for on‑hand inventory.
- Conducts risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses a wide variety of machine malfunctions.
- Coordinates and provides oversight of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
- Supports facilities to ensure all company vehicles are clean, fueled and in proper working order.
- Sources required parts and materials for repairs on projects and maintains positive relationships with suppliers.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage teams, provides guidance, and fosters a positive work environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel, as well as with key stakeholders.
- Strong 5S, housekeeping skills that align with world-class maintenance programs.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, ladder diagrams, logic, and schematics.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues, analyze data, and make informed decisions.
- Budget management skills, including the ability to manage financial budgets, track project expenditures, and identify cost saving solutions.
- Provides a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing Maintenance Supervision role managing a multiple personnel team.
- Understands the principles and tools of Operational Excellence, previous experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), previous ERP experience preferred.
- Supports ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OSHA 18801 certification requirements.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑shift environment.
- Maintains strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Preferred experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) condition and predictive failure monitoring, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) tools, and Operational Excellence (Lean) methodologies.
