Position Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership of the maintenance organization while ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effectiveness of plant assets. This position serves as the primary maintenance leader for the site and is responsible for maintenance execution, work management, reliability improvement, mechanical integrity compliance, contractor coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a working leadership role that combines hands‑on technical involvement with leadership, planning, scheduling, and maintenance system ownership.

This role is expected to build systems, processes, and accountability that improve long‑term maintenance performance. Success is measured not only by completing work, but by creating sustainable maintenance and reliability processes that support safe and reliable plant operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Promote and enforce safe work practices and Hexion safety standards.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) and Mechanical Integrity (MI) programs.
  • Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Drive housekeeping, 5S, and visual management initiatives.

Maintenance Execution & Work Management

  • Facilitate weekly maintenance planning and scheduling meetings.
  • Ensure maintenance work is properly planned, prioritized, scheduled, executed, and closed in SAP.
  • Manage maintenance backlog and schedule adherence.
  • Coordinate plant shutdowns, outages, and major maintenance activities.
  • Support troubleshooting of equipment and process‑related issues.

Reliability & Asset Management

  • Lead efforts to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Drive pump reliability, lubrication, vibration analysis, infrared inspections, and other predictive maintenance initiatives.
  • Identify and eliminate chronic equipment issues (“bad actors”).
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Track and improve asset performance metrics and MTBF.

Mechanical Integrity & Compliance

  • Ensure PM and PdM programs are effective and executed on schedule.
  • Support inspection programs, pressure vessel compliance, fire protection systems, interlock testing, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure audit findings, ATS actions, and compliance‑related work orders are completed on time.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.

Contractor & Cost Management

  • Coordinate contractors and external service providers.
  • Manage maintenance spending and support annual budget objectives.
  • Ensure proper use of purchase orders and procurement processes.
  • Support spare parts inventory management and storeroom optimization.
  • Review labor utilization, contractor costs, and maintenance KPIs.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability for maintenance personnel.
  • Develop team capabilities through training and cross‑training.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, visual management, standard work, and operational excellence programs.
  • Support site initiatives such as PSIP, 4DX, and reliability improvement efforts.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (SAP preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
