We are seeking a motivated and energetic Custodian to join our team in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for the animals, staff, and visitors. This vital role involves performing thorough cleaning duties across our facilities, ensuring sanitation standards are met. • Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting specific areas within the shelter
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and vacuums to maintain floors and surfaces in pristine condition
• Handle chemical agents safely by following proper chemical handling safety procedures and safety protocol adherence
• Assist with heavy lifting tasks using safe lifting practices to move supplies or equipment as needed
• Maintain sanitation standards in public areas, restrooms, and common spaces
• Ensure compliance with safety guidelines during all custodial activities to promote a safe environment for staff, visitors, and animals
• Arrange rooms for meetings and/or events

• Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred; familiarity with commercial cleaning practices is a plus
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation standards, and chemical handling safety procedures
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting with proper technique
• Strong attention to safety protocol adherence and facility maintenance standards
• Excellent customer service skills when interacting with staff or visitors in shared spaces
• Ability to work independently with a proactive approach to cleanliness and safety
• Ability to clearly communicate
