The Facilities and Safety Coordinator supports day to day facility operations across the United States, including the Michigan facility and satellite offices, while coordinating workplace safety and regulatory compliance initiatives. This role partners with internal stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and external service providers to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient facility operations. The position is responsible for supporting business continuity through effective facility management, workplace safety programs, preventive maintenance coordination, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Periodic travel within the United States and occasionally to Canada and Mexico is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee day-to-day facility operations, maintenance, and repairs across multiple locations.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance programs and maintain facility maintenance records.
  • Coordinate vendors, contractors, and service providers for maintenance, inspections, repairs, and facility improvement projects.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure work is completed in accordance with company standards, contract requirements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage building systems including HVAC, electrical, lighting, fire protection, security systems, and general building infrastructure.
  • Support office expansions, workspace modifications, and facility improvement projects.
  • Support OSHA, MIOSHA, and other applicable regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Conduct routine facility, safety, and housekeeping inspections and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.
  • Support incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Support the Quality and Safety Specialist in day-to-day safety, environmental, and compliance activities.
  • Maintain facility and safety documentation, work instructions, records, permits, signage, and inspection logs.
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections and support audit readiness activities.
  • Support emergency preparedness programs, evacuation drills, and business continuity planning.
  • Track facility and safety performance metrics and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in Lean, Kaizen, and 5S initiatives to improve facility operations and workplace efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety performance, operational efficiency, and facility reliability.
  • Support ISO 9001 and other management system initiatives related to facilities and workplace safety.
  • Drive standardization of facility and safety processes across all supported locations.
  • Promote a culture of safety through employee engagement, communication, and training support.
  • Operate or support operation of forklifts and scissor lifts as needed or be willing to obtain certification.
  • Travel to facilities throughout the United States and occasionally to Canada and Mexico to support facility and safety activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of OSHA/MIOSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities across locations.
  • Basic understanding of facility maintenance and workplace safety practices.
  • Ability to coordinate with cross functional teams and external vendors.
  • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Associate degree in Facilities Management, Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in facilities coordination, safety coordination, operations, or a related industrial environment.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, or multi-site office environments is preferred.
  • Experience coordinating vendors, contractors, and facility service providers is preferred.
