Job Title

Janitor

The Janitor will maintain the appearance of the Distribution Center, uphold Bob’s Way in all interactions, and observe all safety requirements of Bob’s Discount Furniture.

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
• Gather and empty trash in pre‑determined areas.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms in the warehouse.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Clean and stock all water coolers as per schedule.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Steam‑clean or shampoo carpets as needed.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Clean laboratory equipment, such as glassware and metal instruments, using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment.
• Drive vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
• Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation.
• Advise of repairs/replacements items needed to maintain regular use of all machines.
• All other duties as assigned.

• 1 year of custodial experience or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education.
• High School Diploma or equivalent experience in a warehouse atmosphere.
• Ability to communicate proactively and effectively, including comprehending and communicating detailed instructions, reading and writing, and having knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures required by the position.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Skilled at multi‑tasking and managing competing priorities.
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment, products, techniques, and standards.
• Must be able to work flexible hours determined by the needs of the department, including weekends and evenings.
• Must be at least 18 years old to be considered for employment with Bob’s.

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, push, and handle and move items weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance.
• Ability to move throughout all areas of the distribution center.
• Move objects up to 250 lbs with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Stand and walk continuously to perform job functions.
• 90% of the time spent standing, walking, lifting, and arranging products; 5% sitting; 5% desk or phone work.

• Starting hourly pay at $16.00 – $18.00/hour (Based on experience).
