Groundskeeper Day Shift

Groundskeeper

The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the exterior of Summit Healthcare facilities in a safe, presentable and professional condition which includes sidewalks, lawns, rock landscaping, trees, flower beds, retention areas, entrances, trash receptacles and parking lots.

Essential Functions

• Cuts and maintains lawns and grass including fertilization, as necessary.
• Rakes leaves and cares for plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
• Determines the appropriate plants or shrubs for walkways or garden areas.
• Provides grounds maintenance in all seasons.
• Responsible for snow and dirt removal.
• Keeps the grounds and environment in a clean, attractive, orderly, safe, and healthy condition.
• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on gardening and grounds equipment.
• Performs morning rounds picking up and disposing of garbage, cleaning entrances, sweeping sidewalks, etc.
• Controls weeds.
• Performs parking lot maintenance.
• Performs diagnosis, repair and maintenance of irrigation systems.

Other Duties

• Seasonal duties such as winterizing of irrigation, annual plant replacement, firewise control measures, etc.
• Participates in departmental and association wide informational meetings and in services, including staff meetings, association wide forums, and seminars.
• Reviews department and association wide policies and procedures annually. Develops and maintains new policies and procedures as needed.

Abilities

• Ability to safely operate motorized equipment such as tractor, stand-on lawn equipment, chainsaws, blowers, trimmers, parking lot equipment such as striper, seal coater, crack sealer, etc.
• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.

None.

Physical Demands

Exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. The worker is exposed to contact with chemicals and infectious fluids, heavy lifting, constant standing, extensive close work, and extensive computer work.

Required Education and Experience

Valid driver's license

Preferred Education and Experience

1 year experience in groundskeeping.

Involves no regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and are not a condition of employment.

This is a safety sensitive position.
