Metrology Technician

Job Overview

We are seeking a Metrology Technician I to support the calibration, maintenance, qualification, and monitoring of laboratory and facility equipment. This role is essential to ensuring equipment performance, regulatory compliance, and the integrity of laboratory operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with laboratory teams and external service providers to maintain calibrated equipment, support validation activities, and monitor temperature-controlled storage systems.

• Perform calibration and preventative maintenance of laboratory and facility equipment in accordance with SOPs, regulatory requirements, and manufacturer specifications.
• Verify proper installation, qualification, and operation of equipment to ensure compliance and performance standards.
• Troubleshoot and assist with resolving equipment-related issues.
• Coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance activities with external vendors and service providers.
• Order equipment, replacement parts, and related services as assigned.
• Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures through the facility's building automation system.
• Support deviation investigations associated with temperature monitoring and equipment performance.
• Assist with equipment qualification, requalification, and validation activities.
• Track, update, and close equipment work orders using internal maintenance systems.
• Tag and register new equipment within asset management systems.
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory and quality requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of experience working with laboratory, scientific, or technical equipment preferred.
• Experience performing equipment maintenance, calibration, or troubleshooting is a plus.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills and experience using maintenance or work-order tracking systems preferred.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and use both hands throughout the workday.
• Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work at a computer and communicate effectively.
• Visual abilities sufficient for close work, equipment inspections, and reading instrumentation.
• Laboratory and facility environment requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and other safety gear as needed.
• Occasional exposure to moving mechanical equipment, sharp instruments, and laboratory chemicals.
• Generally low to moderate noise levels.

This position may require occasional overtime, weekend, holiday, or after-hours coverage to support business and operational needs.

The pay range for this position is $25-$28/hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
