This position assists with the management and operation of the physical facilities of the college at the Sidney, Nebraska Campus. This is accomplished by supporting the Facilities Operations Director with oversight of minor renovation and repair, safety and security, maintenance of buildings, grounds and MEP systems. Coordinate assigned activities with other campus departments, divisions, and outside agencies.

Assume responsibility for all services and activities of the Facilities, including all maintenance, grounds, and troubleshooting building systems. Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, for assigned programs.Support the coordination, and work plan for campus maintenance; assign work activities, projects and programs; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures; meet with College faculty and staff to identify and resolve problems. Oversight assistance of maintenance personnel, laborers, and outside contractors engaged in equipment or systems installation, facilities equipment repair, preventive maintenance, painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, grounds maintenance, operational functions, and other projects.Supervise personnel in accordance with college policies and applicable laws as requested by Facilities Operation Director.
Responsibilities include:
interview and train employees, assist with completion of annual reviews; plan, assign, and direct work; address complaints and resolve problems. Recommend individuals for hire to Facilities Operation Director, and Administrative Services Management Director. Work with employees to correct deficiencies.Employees at this level receive general instruction. Perform complex building, mechanical and plumbing maintenance, grounds work, and a variety of carpentry duties as required to support facilities operations. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to maintenance technician classes, including the operation and inspection of heating, cooling, and ventilating equipment, and training maintenance technicians.Operate a variety of equipment including a forklift, power tools, motor vehicles, tractors, lawn mowers, sprayers and other tools and equipment as required; assist with preventive maintenance activities on tools and equipment.On-Call duties will be covered by all maintenance department employees as assigned. Compensation per Western Nebraska Community College Compensable Time Guidelines Support Staff:
Call Time.Performs other duties by providing facility audits; walking through buildings to ensure proper sanitation, cleanliness, and functions of the facilities; supports oversight of shipping and receiving, fleet management, energy management systems and preventive maintenance.Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of building maintenance.Assist in the set-up of special events.Perform other duties as assigned.Education
Equivalent to an associate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, business, accounting, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience
Five years or more of increasingly responsible experience in facilities maintenance and repair, including two years of management and supervisory responsibility.
License or Certificate
Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC’s vehicle insurance is required.
Alternate Sitting or Standing at Will - The ability to alternate between sitting and standing is present when a worker has the flexibility to choose between sitting or standing as needed when this need cannot be accommodated by scheduled breaks and/or lunch period.
