Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance
Overview
Act as a leader with an emphasis on people leadership through strong guidance to achieve departmental and customer goals as measured by a wide variety of inputs and analysis. Assist the Maintenance Manager with day to day operations, mentor Technicians, and continuously improve reliability of equipment and processes.
Essential Position Responsibilities- Repair and maintain equipment as needed to ensure it operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Manager toward achieving department goals and provide tactical management of daily maintenance operations.
- Partner with Production to meet daily case counts and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Ensure a safe work environment and a safe workplace.
- Assume leadership of the maintenance department in the absence of the Maintenance Manager and execute training activities as directed.
- Communicate issues to the Leadership team in a timely and adequate manner (written and spoken).
- Collaborate with operators, mechanics, supervisors, and management to promote positive outcomes and resolve conflicts by gathering facts and assessing the situation.
- Understand and support Simmons operating systems principles and objectives, including quality, security, office environment, and company policies, and communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
- Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives; this description guides the activities of the Maintenance Lead but is not intended to limit the work required.
Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Must be able to manually lift or move objects weighing 75-150 pounds. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, on feet for the entire shift, in cramped, enclosed, elevated, wet, dirty areas with noise above 90 decibels. Must be able to work off of manlifts up to 50 feet high and to climb stairs/ladders to heights of 50 feet.
Must be able to walk, stoop, sit, squat, climb ladders and stairs and lift/carry objects up to 50 lbs.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection and other protective equipment as needed or required.
Technical Experience- Minimum of one (1) year related training/experience in all areas of maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform mathematical computations involved in estimating and purchasing.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license. Welding skills are preferred.
Preference for food processing organization.
Education- Minimum Education:
Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken; experience or vocational training in mechanical and electrical equipment troubleshooting. - Preferred Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
