Housekeeping Associate Role
The Housekeeping Associate is responsible for day‑to‑day cleaning activities in resident and patient homes, patient rooms, common areas, and administrative offices within the life‑plan community in accordance with company standards and federal, state, and local regulations.
Responsibilities- Operations Management (75%):
Dust furniture, tables, windows, lights, beds, high pipes, and other surfaces; empty and clean waste cans; clean and polish tables, fixtures, furnishings, and woodwork; disinfect bathroom fixtures and floors; clean windows and mirrors; clean all floors and baseboards by disinfecting, sweeping, dustmopping, wet mopping, waxing, buffing; vacuum carpets and carpeted stairways; clean walls and ceilings by wiping, dusting, spot cleaning; ensure work area is clean and equipment is in proper working order;
maintain adequate supplies. - Quality, Compliance, and Risk Management (10%):
Ensure quality assurance, infection control, and universal precaution practices are maintained; report damage or repairs; share observations to improve quality and efficiencies; attend meetings and training. - Customer Relations and Service Delivery (10%):
Listen and respond to resident, patient, and staff needs; honor personal and property rights during duties. - Administration and Reporting (5%):
Maintain current and accurate records using computers or other documentation; perform other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Tenth grade education required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred. - Experience:
One year of housekeeping experience preferred; on‑job training provided. - Knowledge:
Cleaning and general housekeeping methods and equipment; care of different floor types and appropriate cleaning materials and equipment. - Other Requirements:
Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
Special Requirements
- Sitting – up to 1 hour/day
- Standing – up to 8 hours/day
- Walking – up to 8 hours/day
- Lifting, transferring, pushing or pulling residents/patients or equipment/supplies – up to 50 pounds
- Driving – up to 3 hours/day
- Work weekends, evenings, and holidays – required as scheduled
- Subject to residents/patients with various disease processes – occasional
- Subject to falls, burns, odors, and cuts – occasional
- Risk Category for Exposure to Bloodborne Diseases – I
- Possible exposure to infectious waste, disease, conditions (including AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses)
