Summary
Under general supervision, performs building cleaning, facilities and grounds maintenance work in schools and administrative buildings. This is an entry-level, general worker position that requires on‑the‑job training in simple manual skills and the use of cleaning and grounds tools and equipment. Work is repetitive, involves sustained physical effort, and may require moving or lifting furniture and equipment (minimum 50 lbs.), with some exposure to accident and injury hazards and disagreeable elements.
Employees are considered emergency personnel and must report to buildings during inclement weather. Frequent overtime or night work may be required. A current working telephone number must be provided to the supervisor and updated as necessary. Uniforms are provided and must be worn properly.
The wage range for this position is between $20.65 and $26.16 per hour, based on years of service. Benefits information can be found here:

Perform building cleaning, facilities, and grounds maintenance tasks. Apply training in manual skills, cleaning supplies, and equipment. Move and lift furniture and equipment, maintaining safety and secure environment.
Qualifications- Completion of ninth grade required;
High School or GED diploma preferred. - Experience in general cleaning of buildings and grounds.
- Some knowledge of methods, materials, and practices of building and grounds work.
- Ability to learn operation and maintenance of custodial and grounds equipment.
- Ability to use approved cleaning supplies and chemicals.
- Monitoring building spaces and grounds for safety.
- Basic knowledge of emergency facility response procedures.
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
- Ability to communicate with customers.
- Knowledge of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
Special Requirements
- Sufficient physical strength and freedom from disabling defects for lifting and moving heavy objects (minimum 50 lbs.).
- Willingness to report to buildings during inclement weather and to assist staff in emergency situations.
- Frequent overtime or night work may be required.
- Must provide current working telephone number to supervisor and update as necessary.
- Uniform provided; proper attire required.
