Job Type: Full-Time, Thursday–Monday, 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Job SummaryThe Full-Time Custodian plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone who enters Central Church. This position supports ministry by ensuring our buildings, restrooms, common areas, and event spaces are cared for with excellence, consistency, and attention to detail. The custodian helps prepare rooms for services and events, responds to facility needs, and contributes to a culture of ownership and hospitality.
Key ResponsibilitiesCleaning & Sanitation
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, offices, hallways, classrooms, and common areas
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect surfaces daily
- Empty trash and recycling bins and replace liners
- Clean glass, windows, mirrors, and doors
- Maintain cleanliness of entryways and high-traffic areas throughout shift
- Set up and tear down chairs, tables, staging, and equipment as needed
- Ensure rooms are reset to standard after meetings or events
- Support weekend services by keeping restrooms and common spaces clean and stocked
- Respond quickly to spills, messes, and urgent cleaning needs
- Monitor building for safety hazards and report concerns immediately
- Restock paper goods, soap, and cleaning supplies as needed
- Operate cleaning equipment (floor scrubbers, vacuums, etc.)
- Assist with light maintenance tasks when assigned (changing bulbs, basic repairs, etc.)
- Help maintain supply closets and organize custodial inventory
- Represent Central Church values through professionalism, integrity, and service
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and staff about needs or concerns
- Take initiative in improving cleanliness and identifying areas that need attention
- Work with excellence even when tasks are behind-the-scenes
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to perform physical labor including lifting, bending, standing, and walking for long periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Dependable and punctual with strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Willingness to support church events
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience (church, school, office, or similar setting)
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and safety practices
- Experience with floor care equipment (buffers, scrubbers, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail

- Team-oriented with a positive attitude
- This role requires regular physical activity including standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), pushing/pulling carts, bending, and repetitive motion. Work includes exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and waste materials.
