Requirements

Experience Desired: High School Diploma.
Physical Requirements: Good physical health, ability to lift 75 pounds, climb to high and difficult places, frequent hand‑eye coordination, bending, carrying, climbing, hearing, lifting and stooping, repetitive wrist motions, occasional crawling and crouching. Constant standing and walking.
Other Requirements: Must pass a test of aptitudes showing basic knowledge for the position, be certified by state through testing to be a licensed herbicide and pesticide applicator, current state vehicle operator’s license, insurable, ability to work unsupervised, good attendance, ability to communicate and follow written and oral direction, ability to recognize equipment malfunction, positive attitude toward coworkers, work cooperatively and accept instructions and training.

Essential

Functions & Duties Groundskeeper II

Maintains lawns, trees, shrubs, landscaping, sidewalks, steps, entrances and keeps other areas as determined free of snow or ice. Removes bottles, trash, paper and cans from entire site.

Marks fields and sites for athletic events.

Maintains and repairs equipment and vehicles used. Observes and reports needed repair of equipment, furnishings, fixtures, building and site and performs minor maintenance.

Sweeps and dusts surfaces and furniture, removes and disposes of trash, replenishes supplies, cleans and polishes all interior surfaces, cleans and maintains carpets and hard surface floor coverings, moves furniture as needed.

Makes recommendation for supplies and equipment to Building Custodial Manager.

Works a revised schedule and substitutes for other custodial staff when necessary.

Shares responsibility for holiday, extended day and weekend activities.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Groundskeeper I

Coordinates and directs summer part‑time lawn crews.

All items listed above under Groundskeeper II above.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Pay Information

Level JX – starting salary is $22.18 per hour (starting 7/1/2026) and increases to $22.55 per hour. Level KX – starting salary is $23.23 per hour and increases to $23.62 per hour. Pay day is the last working day of each month.

Hours & FTE

Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm with a 30‑minute unpaid break. 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, 12 months.
