Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated Plant Maintenance Assistant Manager to support the Custodial Team in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for the district’s students.
Responsibilities include:
- Assuming supervisory duties in the absence of the Plant Maintenance Facilities and Grounds Manager.
- Assigning and monitoring daily work and inspecting staff performance.
- Coordinating work order schedules and staff assignments with the Plant Maintenance Supervisor.
- Assisting in training and re‑training of new and existing operational staff.
- Responding to facility emergencies.
- Performing maintenance and repair work across district facilities, including concrete and asphalt repair, playground equipment, parking lot cleaning, snow removal, and general building maintenance.
- Conducting preventive maintenance such as roof repair, glass replacement, masonry, interior and exterior finishes, doors, windows, and hardware.
- Participating in remodel and construction projects: installing walls, floors, ceilings, sheetrock, paneling, plastering, painting, cork boards, bulletin boards, and furniture.
- Providing miscellaneous maintenance services: replacing light bulbs, removing graffiti, moving supplies, and equipment.
- Maintaining assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment and recommending supplies to the manager.
- Adjusting schedule during emergency periods and substituting for other maintenance staff.
- Sharing responsibility for holiday, extended day, and weekend activities.
- Performing other duties as assigned by supervisors.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; two‑year technical education preferred.
- One year of supervisor or management experience preferred.
- Three years’ experience in horticulture (tree, shrubs, lawn care, irrigation) is required.
- Experience with construction and maintenance of building components such as shelving, framework, drywall, concrete finishing, parking lots, sidewalks, and playgrounds is preferred.
- Physical ability to lift 75 pounds, climb, crawl, crouch, and perform repetitive motions.
- Must hold a valid State vehicle operator’s license and be able to operate district fleet vehicles safely.
- Good attendance record and ability to follow written and oral directions.
- Positive attitude, teamwork, and willingness to accept instructions and training.
- License for herbicide and pesticide application.
- Ability to work unsupervised and be on call beyond regular workdays when emergencies arise.
Good physical health, ability to lift 75 pounds, frequent bending, carrying, pushing, standing, stooping, walking, occasional crawling, climbing, and reaching.
Hours & FTEMonday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a 30‑minute unpaid break.
1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, 12 months.
Pay InformationStarting at $32.34 per hour.
Pay day is the last working day of each month.
