The Director of Maintenance provides leadership and oversight for the maintenance, repair, safety, and appearance of all Sioux Falls Christian Schools facilities and grounds. This position ensures a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained campus while leading the maintenance team with integrity, excellence, and faithful stewardship. As a ministry partner, the Director models Christian character, fosters teamwork, and supports the mission of Sioux Falls Christian Schools.

Demonstrates a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and actively supports the mission, vision, and Statement of Faith of Sioux Falls Christian Schools by integrating biblical principles into leadership, relationships, and daily work.

• Lead, supervise, schedule, mentor, and evaluate the maintenance team.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, servant leadership, and excellent customer service.
• Build collaborative relationships with staff, administrators, and external partners.

• Oversee preventive maintenance for all buildings, grounds, and athletic facilities.
• Prioritize and coordinate repairs, maintenance projects, and work orders.
• Maintain facilities that are safe, clean, attractive, and fully operational.
• Manage maintenance equipment, tools, supplies, and vendor relationships.

Working knowledge of:

• Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
• Carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance
• Mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance
• Coordinate licensed contractors for specialized work as needed.

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and school policies.
• Conduct facility inspections and maintain maintenance records.
• Assist with emergency preparedness planning.
• Develop and manage the maintenance budget, obtain competitive bids, and steward resources responsibly.

• Demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and supports the mission and values of Sioux Falls Christian Schools.
• High school diploma required; technical training, trade certification, or related degree preferred.
• Five or more years of maintenance experience; supervisory experience preferred.
• Broad knowledge of building systems and general maintenance practices.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with basic computer systems for scheduling, work orders, and communication.

• Ability to climb ladders, operate lifts, and perform physical labor.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Available to respond to maintenance emergencies outside normal working hours when necessary.
