Material Handling Laborer

Primary Function

Tunista Services LLC Regular:
The Material Handling Laborer is responsible for performing physical tasks to transport or store materials or merchandise.

• Loading, unloading, and delivery of furnishings and appliances to customers.
• Receive furnishings into the organization and verify furnishings against service orders to ensure the accuracy of the delivery.
• Responsible for inventory shipments and noting any discrepancies.
• Routing furnishings to storage location.
• Assisting Appliance Technician in repairs and delivery.
• Use material moving equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and dollies to bring furnishings to an appropriate location.
• Assisting in weekly forklift maintenance.
• Cleaning and repairing furnishings.
• Unloading furniture and appliances from shipping containers.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds.
• Must be able to use the bar‑coding system.
• Strong customer service skills.
• May be required to perform inventory of property.

No supervisory responsibilities. This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks and is directly tasked by the Warehouse Lead.

• Beginner to intermediate computer skills; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs.
• Ability to enter data accurately into databases.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff; routinely interact with customers and other crew members.
• Effective communication skills to clearly convey information to others.
• Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, and printers.
• Ability to follow a process.
• Professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service, and follow‑up.
• Strong decision analysis and problem‑solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions; must communicate issues to management.
• Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to Tunista Services goals.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
• High degree of self‑motivation and ability to work independently.
• Ability to multi‑task.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of specialized experience in DoD preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Knowledge of standard warehouse loading and storage techniques required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted is required.
• Must pass DoD background investigation.
