Job Summary:
The Summer Exploration Site Supervisor will oversee and support summer school by providing on-site leadership, coordination, and guidance to summer school staff, sponsors, and community partners as part of the Community School Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO) focus area.

The Summer Exploration Site Supervisor reports directly to the Community Schools Program Director

Full day hours are 8:00 a.m.

- 4:00 p.m.
AM session 8:15 a.m.

- 12:15 p.m.
PM session 11:45 a.m.

- 3:45 p.m.

Five one-week sessions including:
  • Mandatory Training:
    June 10, 11
  • Session 1:
    June 15, 16, 17, 18
  • Session 2:
    June 22, 23, 24, 25, 26
  • Session 3:
    July 13, 14, 15, 16, 17
  • Session 4:
    July 20, 21, 22, 23, 24
  • Jumpstart for Grades K, 3, 6 only:
    August 3, 4, 5, 7, 8
Qualifications:
  • Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License (PEL) preferred
  • Priority for the Summer Exploration Site Supervisor will be given first to SEA teacher union members. If additional opportunities remain, PSRP union members may then be considered. All internal staff (SEA an PSRP) will be prioritized before external candidates
Rate of Pay:
  • $30/hour
Summer Exploration Staff will:
  • Oversee daily operations of summer exploration programming in alignment with Community Schools ELO goals
  • Supervise site-based staff, partners and volunteers; provide ongoing feedback to support program quality and improvement
  • Manage communication with front office staff, families and community partners to support student needs, attendance and program coordination
  • Ensure proper student supervision, including during arrival, dismissal, breakfast/lunch and any bus-related issues or returns
  • Ensure summer exploration staff accurately records and submits student attendance data in Infinite Campus and other required systems
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for students, families and partners
  • Promote a positive and respectful environment by reinforcing school wide expectations and addressing behavior concerns as needed
  • Coordinate emergency procedures and respond to incidents as needed
  • Respond to student health and safety needs, including providing basic first aid and following school protocols for medical situations
