Paraprofessional​/Teacher Assistant

Duties

Join the dynamic team at Orchard Academy, a vibrant transitional program designed for students aged 17-21. Our students engage in a balanced schedule from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, spending half of their day in engaging instruction and the other half gaining invaluable experience through internships. Our mission is to empower students to lead independent lives and achieve full employment.

Paraprofessional

Description:

As a Paraprofessional, you will play a crucial role in supporting our educators and enhancing student learning. Your responsibilities will include:

* Providing instructional and clerical support to teachers.

* Assisting students with class materials using tailored lesson plans and offering individualized attention both inside and outside the classroom.

* Preparing instructional materials, activities, and displays that inspire creativity and engagement.

* Supporting students with personal care and behavior programs as needed.

* Participating in developmental training, meetings, and special events to foster community involvement.

Qualifications

* Two years of experience in Special Education.

* A valid Illinois Paraprofessional Certification.

* Associate's degree or higher.

* Valid driver's license with a good driving record (staff will be required to drive).

* Must obtain a Bus Driver certification or complete a bus driving class, including passing a written and driving test (Orchard Village will pay for the costs).
