Duties

Essential Duties:

* Collaborate with the principal to support the implementation of instructional priorities and school improvement efforts

* Provide coaching, modeling, and feedback to teachers to improve instructional practices and support professional growth

* Lead and monitor the implementation of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for academics, behavior, and SEL

* Facilitate and reinforce a consistent school-wide approach to positive behavior, student engagement, and restorative practices

* Analyze and respond to student behavior and attendance data, collaborating with staff to design appropriate supports

* Support the planning and facilitation of professional learning for staff, especially in areas related to instructional strategies, SEL, and inclusive practices

* Serve as a key member of the school's student support and intervention teams

* Establish positive relationships with students, staff, and families to build trust, respect, and collaboration

* Assist with student supervision, crisis intervention, discipline, and safety protocols

* Partner with families and external agencies to support student well-being and engagement

* Support the recruitment, induction, and retention of high-quality staff

Other Responsibilities:

* Assist in the development and communication of school-wide expectations and school culture initiatives

* Actively promote equity, access, and belonging for all students and staff

* Serve as acting principal in the absence of the principal

* Support operational and logistical aspects of school management, including scheduling, coverage, and event planning

* Lead or support school committees or initiatives aligned with student achievement and well-being

Additional Duties:

* Respond to student/staff/parent concerns and work collaboratively to ensure needs are met equitably.

* Promote inclusive and culturally responsive practices throughout the district.

* Participate in meetings, committees, and initiatives as assigned by the supervisor and/or the Superintendent.

* Ensure appropriate sections of the website are updated regularly-at minimum before summer, before the start of the school year, and before winter-and notify relevant staff when updates are needed.

* Commitment to equity, belonging, and academic rigor for every student

* Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Principal Endorsement required

* Successful teaching experience at the junior high or middle school level

* Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning

* Strong background in student support systems, behavior frameworks, and SEL practices

* Proven ability to build relationships, resolve conflict, and promote a positive school culture

* Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

* Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices

* Preferred but not required - Bilingual endorsement/approval or fluency in a second language, in addition to English

Salary/Benefits

* Work Year: 224 work days

* Leave: 9 Paid Holidays / 12-20 Sick Days (depending on years of service) / 2 Personal Days

Exempt

* Retirement: TRS

As outlined in the District 68 administrative benefits plan - family health insurance benefit with the full premium cost for the HMO, PPO HDHP or PPO (paid by the Board of Education)

* Salary:
Commensurate with experience ($90,000 - $140,000)
