Position: Teen Services Specialist (part-time)

TEEN SERVICES SPECIALIST

(Non-exempt)
Part-time

Schedule: Part-time 18 hrs. a week

  • Monday 4-8pm
  • Tuesday 4-8pm
  • Friday 4-9pm
  • Saturday 1-6pm

As a Teen Services Specialist
, you will be part of a team that helps young people in middle and high school explore interests, learn, and grow. You’ll provide a welcoming and supportive environment in the Teen Room, connect patrons to library resources, and respond to the needs and requests of teens in the library.

What You’ll Do
  • Staff the library’s 6th–12th grade Teen Room and maintain a supportive environment while responding to readers’ advisory and other requests
  • Promote and help teens navigate library resources and services
  • Provide friendly, responsive customer service to all library patrons
  • Offer personalized reading and viewing recommendations
  • Answer basic informational questions and assist with library resources
  • Help maintain library displays
  • Collaborate with colleagues on programs, outreach, and special projects
Minimum Qualifications
  • Some college coursework, an associate degree, or equivalent experience
  • Experience providing direct service to teens in grades 6-12, such as in education or in teen engagement (e.g., after school or extracurricular programs)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working in a public library
Working Conditions

This position involves both desk and active work, including standing, walking, lifting materials, and frequent computer use. Availability for days, evenings, and weekends may be required.
