Title:

Teacher. Responsible for instruction, progress, and discipline of all pupils in assigned classes, performing related duties under principal supervision.

• Instructional planning: preparing written lesson plans in line with program objectives; establishing positive learning expectations and evaluating pupils’ progress; maintaining accurate records of achievements.
• Instructional methods: applying contemporary learning theory and teaching methods, using available instructional materials, developing new techniques, and maintaining bulletin board and interest areas.
• Curriculum: exhibit knowledge of subject area content appropriate for instructional level.
• Student support: participate in programs to improve attendance, anti‑vandalism, and conduct; set reasonable rules; maintain accurate attendance records and seating charts; encourage student growth in discipline and concept.
• Parent and community engagement: initiate conferences with parents, guardians, administrators, and ancillary personnel; communicate with parents about academic progress, attendance, and conduct.
• Professional development: attend in‑service meetings and staff meetings; coordinate class field trips; work in extracurricular and after‑school activities; use community resources.

• Successful completion of all student‑teaching requirements and all coursework needed for a teaching certificate issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Valid teaching license: either Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS), properly endorsed for this position.
• Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements, contemporary principles and practices of teaching, and classroom and behavior‑management techniques.
• Ability to modify instruction for student needs, collaborate with faculty and administration on an articulated instructional program, and work effectively with pupils, parents, staff, and community representatives.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and sound professional judgment.

Light work: up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally, or up to ten (10) pounds of force frequently, or negligible force constantly. Ability to stoop occasionally, reach frequently, handle objects occasionally, and use near visual acuity constantly.
