Korn Ferry has partnered with our client on their search for Controller
Skokie - hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment requiring the ability to multi-task and work across multiple facets of the business. This controller will work closely with senior leadership and be responsible for day-to-day oversight of all accounting functions and financial analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build out process and systems to provide best-in-class real estate and accounting reporting.
- Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting functions. Evaluate accounting and internal control systems.
- Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementation of new processes, policies, and procedures.
- Manage all aspects of the general ledger chart of accounts for multiple entities.
- Oversee and supervise the Accounts Payable processes, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Oversee bank reconciliations of operating, collection, security, and escrow accounts.
- Manage and oversee cash position of all entities.
- Oversee development and construction draws/requests, including segregation of soft and hard costs for each construction draw.
- Oversee and review all invoices, lien waivers, and AIA documentation to match the draw requests and tracking schedules draws on a monthly basis.
- Gather documents for year-end Corporate tax returns.
- Coordinate activities of external tax accountants and auditors.
- Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements.
- Oversee employee authorization on Company’s vendor credit account.
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations.
- Reconcile general ledger, relative to budget and completion costs to date.
- Support and manage treasury functions including investor distributions.
- Manage the Accounting Department staff.
- Hire, train, supervise, and retain a superior Accounting staff.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 10+ years of experience showing increasing responsibility in Real Estate and Construction Accounting
- CPA
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
- Highly organized with developed and practiced attention to detail
