The Associate Controller will play a critical leadership role in managing the company’s accounting operations, with primary responsibility for overseeing the monthly close and financial reporting processes. This position is designed as a succession role to the Controller and will partner closely with executive leadership to ensure accurate, timely, and insightful financial information.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and develop accounting staff, fostering a high-performance and accountable team culture.
- Lead and continuously improve the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and review internal financial statements, management reporting packages, and variance analyses.
- Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
- Coordinate with external auditors and support annual audit and tax processes.
- Partner with FP&A and operational teams to provide actionable financial insights and support decision-making.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with financial reporting.
- Support strategic initiatives, including M&A integration, system implementations, and growth planning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or private industry.
- Proven experience leading or heavily participating in month-end close and reporting cycles.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems required.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau or other business intelligence tools preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing and developing teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.
