Financial Analyst / Staff Accountant
Location: Skokie, Illinois
Schedule: Full-time, in office
Company: Evercare Financial Services
Evercare Financial Services is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Financial Analyst / Staff Accountant to join our in-office team in Skokie.
This is a hands‑on finance and accounting role in a small office environment. The position is split between regular financial analysis and reporting, and monthly accounting work such as preparing financial statements, bank reconciliations, P&L reviews, balance sheet support, and related close tasks.
During part of the month, this role will focus on recurring analytic reporting, including revenue trends, expenses, reimbursement, cash flow, accounts receivable, and facility performance. During the other part of the month, the role will support the regular financial close cycle, including reconciliations, journal entries, financial statement preparation, and review of P&L and balance sheet activity.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, learning the business, and being involved in both the accounting and operational finance side of skilled nursing facilities. We are a small, hands‑on office, so this role is best suited for someone practical, organized, and willing to jump in where needed.
Responsibilities- Prepare and review monthly financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheet activity, and supporting schedules
- Assist with the monthly close process, including bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Prepare recurring reports related to revenue, expenses, reimbursement trends, accounts receivable, cash flow, and facility performance
- Review monthly financial results and help explain variances to budget, prior periods, or expectations
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
- Maintain organized work papers and supporting documentation for financial statements and analysis
- Assist with accounting and finance projects, including reconciliations, reporting improvements, and data cleanup
- Work with internal teams to gather information, understand operational results, and improve reporting accuracy
- Help create dashboards, summaries, and analysis for management review
- Learn and apply healthcare finance concepts, reimbursement rules, and operational metrics
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis, accounting projects, and special projects as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong Excel skills
- Comfortable working with financial statements, reconciliations, and large amounts of data
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, including P&L and balance sheet activity
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take ownership of assigned work
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks
Must be able to work in person at our Skokie office
- Prior experience as a staff accountant, financial analyst, or similar finance/accounting role
- Experience with bank reconciliations, journal entries, account reconciliations, or monthly close
- Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software
- Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, or cash flow analysis
- Interest in healthcare, skilled nursing, or operational finance
This role is best suited for someone who wants to be involved in the real day‑to‑day work of finance and accounting, not just sit in meetings or prepare high‑level corporate presentations.
The right candidate does not need to know everything on day one, but should be curious, organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable rolling up their sleeves. We are looking for someone who can help with recurring monthly reporting, understand the numbers, support the accounting close, and grow into a strong finance resource for the company.
If you are motivated, analytical, and looking for a practical, hands‑on finance and accounting role with room to grow, we encourage you to apply.
