- Why This Role Exists

This role exists to support  long-term production stability and equipment reliability  at Midland Manufacturing’s Skokie facility.

As a CNC Maintenance Mechanic, you play a critical role in keeping  high-value CNC machining centers running safely, accurately, and on schedule . Your work directly supports the production of precision rail tank car valves and fittings used in critical hazardous and non-hazardous material transport.

- The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain  CNC machining centers

Perform  preventive maintenance (TPM)  including lubrication, cleaning, and filter changes

Diagnose mechanical failures involving  bearings, gears, motors, and drive systems

Conduct  root cause analysis  to reduce repeat downtime

Read and interpret  electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals

Use precision measuring tools and diagnostic equipment to verify safe operation

Support facility systems including  industrial electrical, mechanical, and plumbing

Respond to  emergency repair situations  to minimize production impact

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same.

- What We’re Looking For

Required:

High school diploma or GED

5+ years of CNC or industrial maintenance experience

Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills

Experience working with  industrial electrical systems

Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics

Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred (Not Required):

Direct experience maintaining Mazak, Okuma, or DMG Mori machines

PLC troubleshooting experience

Background in precision machining environments

Manufacturing shop environment with CNC machinery, noise, and temperature variation

Work may involve  working at heights  and lifting up to 50 lbs regularly (100 lbs occasionally with assistance)
