Our client, a global leader in the rail tank car valves and fittings industry, is looking for qualified welders for the 2nd shift.
2nd Shift hours are 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm
Pay range: $29.00 – $38.35 /hr. ($2.00/hr shift differential for 2nd shift)
The welder will operate TIG & MIG welding machines, including power‑up, cleaning and finish weld on various parts while maintaining cleanliness. The welder is expected to meet productivity and quality requirements while performing welds according to specifications.
Primary Responsibilities / Essential Responsibilities- Work safely following all established policies and procedures
- Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions
- Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials
- Examine work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications
- Read blueprints, welding process specifications, and welding symbols
- Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers
- Report all non‑conforming material to the supervisor
- Understand and perform all quality regulations, standards and policies, including ISO 9001:2015 and AAR M‑1003, and follow work procedures to ensure the highest level of quality
- Complete housekeeping and 5S duties in assigned areas or project area on a regular basis
- Complete assigned work within the given timeframe and according to the specifications
- Complete required paperwork relevant to the job
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned
- Participate in team meetings as required (safety, problem‑solving, etc.)
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 2–3 years of MIG/TIG welding experience
- Experience welding for pressurized devices such as tanks and valves
- Experience welding stainless steel, carbon steel, monel, Hastelloy B & C
- Solid understanding of welding equipment and accessories
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding process specifications and welding symbols
- Ability to operate manual or semi‑automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using established processes
- Ability to weld in all positions with good penetration and quality
- Ability and willingness to follow directions and work independently
- Good manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination
- Ability to share knowledge and information with other employees
- Ability to continuously improve and learn new skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment
- Ability to work under general supervision
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co‑workers
- Ability to effectively problem‑solve
- Continuously standing; repetitive grasping and fine manipulation with the hands; frequent walking, bending, squatting, twisting, and pushing or pulling up to 20 lb (occasionally 50 lb with assistance)
- Work performed in a shop environment; may be exposed to loud machinery, cold temperatures, hot temperatures, chemicals, and vapors
