Position: RN Trainer (Registered Nurse Trainer – RNT)

Location: Skokie, IL

Position Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Chief Program Officer

Supervises: LPN, Medical Liaisons, Contractual, and On-call RNs

About the Role

Shore Community Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced, visionary RN Trainer (RNT) to serve as our primary clinical administrator. In this leadership role, you will oversee medical care, medication administration systems, regulatory compliance, and clinical staff supervision across our residential (CILA, ICF/DD, CLF) and Day Services (CDS) programs.

We are looking for a collaborative nurse leader dedicated to building sustainable healthcare systems, empowering multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring superior, audit-ready standards of care for the individuals we serve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Administration & Regulatory Compliance:
    • Serve as the primary nursing authority across all programs, maintaining full compliance with Rule 116 (CILA) and Rule 115/350 (ICF/DD) standards.
    • Lead medical survey preparations for DHS, IDPH, BALC, BQM, and CARF; develop and execute Plans of Correction as needed.
    • Conduct medication reconciliation for hospital discharges within 24 hours, review incident reports for medical implications, and oversee emergency protocols (Epi Pen, Diastat, Glucagon, etc.).
  • Medication Administration & RNT Oversight:
    * Direct medication administration delegation under the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
    * Oversee training, competency validation, annual observation, and retraining for all unlicensed medication administration personnel.
    * Perform monthly medication cycle fill oversight, weekly controlled substance audits, MAR reviews, and quality assurance error tracking.
  • Clinical Supervision &

    Collaboration:


    * Provide direct clinical supervision, performance management, and monthly chart audits for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Medical Liaisons.
    * Lead Clinical Connection Triad meetings to align medical goals with operational efficiency.
    * Supervise contractual and on-call RNs.
  • Systems Development & Sustainability:
    * Build and manage a centralized compliance-tracking dashboard with real-time expiration monitoring and a master medical compliance calendar.
    * Develop and maintain written Nursing Operations Manual workflows to protect organizational continuity during staffing transitions.
  • Health Assessments & Quality Assurance:
    * Perform initial/annual health assessments, complete HRST/clinical assessments, and update Health Care Levels (HCLs).
    * Direct quarterly quality assurance trending on medication errors, ER visits, falls, hospitalizations, and aspiration incidents.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
    • Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Public Health preferred.
  • Experience:
    * Minimum of 3 years of clinical Registered Nursing experience.
    * Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) or in community health management.
    * Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Licensure &

    Certifications:


    * Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license.
    * Illinois Registered Nurse Trainer (RNT) certification obtained through the State of Illinois within 120 days of hire.
    * Valid driver's license.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    * Strong analytical skills for care plan implementation and medical data evaluation.
    * Proficiency in medical planning, computer literacy, data analysis, and healthcare management systems.
    * Exceptional leadership, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Physical & Attire Requirements:
    * Ability to sit, stand, bend, push, pull, lift occasionally, and maintain independent mobility between program sites.
    * Attire requires closed-toe shoes with non-slip soles (recommend avoiding dangling jewelry or rings with raised designs for safety).
