Job Skills / Requirements

Schedule
:
Saturday 6am-2pm (Highland Park);
Sunday 2pm-10pm (Glenbrook); 2pm-10pm Thursday (Skokie).

Position Overview: Healthcare Security Officers are assigned to hospital entry points and other high-traffic areas where they operate weapons detection systems and/or magnetometers. Officers provide a welcoming presence while ensuring a safe, secure, and efficient screening process for all who enter the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate weapons detection systems and/or magnetometers to screen staff, patients, and visitors for prohibited items.
  • Maintain a professional, approachable presence while ensuring the integrity of security screening protocols.
  • Assist hospital personnel and visitors with directions, information, and customer service support.
  • Respond appropriately to system alerts and escalate concerns to hospital security leadership or law enforcement as needed.
  • Complete Daily Activity Reports (DARs) documenting incidents, unusual activity, and security observations.
  • Support hospital safety initiatives by monitoring entry points and controlling access to restricted areas.
  • Maintain compliance with all client-specific and company operational procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
  • Seasonal Influenza (from Oct 1-March 31 every year)

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Licensing:
Must possess or obtain a valid PERC (Permanent Employee Registration Card) issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).

Must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

Experience:

Prior security or military experience preferred, but not required.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.

Ability to stand for extended periods while monitoring security screening equipment.

  • Must possess a valid FOID (Firearm Owner’s Identification) Card or be eligible to obtain one.
  • Must be willing to obtain Tas er certification and maintain compliance with all related training requirements.
