Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician performs repairs, adjustments, overhauls, and preventive maintenance for laundry and boiler‑room equipment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical and electronic problems, performing plumbing, carpentry, welding, and electrical tasks, and maintaining accurate logs.

Responsibilities
  • Repair, modify, and manufacture new parts for mechanical equipment.
  • Set up and operate a 250‑amp electrical welder in a laundry plant environment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, pipe, and electrical systems following specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings.
  • Dismantle defective machines, replace parts and motors, and adjust feed mechanisms.
  • Operate machinery to determine causes of component or system failure through testing and visual inspection.
  • Maintain and complete proper logs and work orders.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other machine parts using appropriate tools.
  • Install, align, tension, and maintain chain, sprocket, gear, belt, and other drive systems.
  • Program or repair automated machinery and equipment’s electronic components.
  • Safely operate forklifts or manlifts while wearing required safety equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance daily when an engineer is on duty.
  • Report and collaborate with facility management on related issues.
  • Maintain a professional work environment with staff.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and policies.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent plus 4‑6 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, hydraulic, pneumatic, and welding skills.
  • Computer literacy and understanding of PLC principles.
  • Accurate reading, interpretation, and analysis of electrical and mechanical schematics, block diagrams, and flow charts.
  • Ability to use appropriate tools and comply with all company safety policies.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of HAZMAT, MSDs, EPA, and OSHA requirements.
  • Awareness of accident or emergency reporting procedures.
Skills & Competencies
  • Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds, bend, stoop, push, stand, pull, and walk for extended periods.
  • Strong customer service, leadership, and organizational skills with a track record of positive business results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on schedule.
  • Continuous self‑improvement to stay current with new equipment, standards, codes, and maintenance procedures.
