Maintenance Assistant

Responsibilities

• Heavy duty cleaning, light grounds care, maintenance of institutional equipment.
• Keep records of work performed.
• Coordinate work with other departments so as not to interrupt patient care or normal business functions.
• Able to be on call for emergencies.
• Perform or direct duties concerning maintenance of grounds, parking lots, driveways, etc. Including gardening, landscaping, cleaning‑up, snow removal (except those performed under service contract).

• High school graduate or graduate of a technical school.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals; knowledge of local codes, ordinances and safety regulations.
• Ability to plan and carry out repair or construction programs and/or installations; ability to direct others.
• Knowledge of record keeping and cost estimating.
• Knowledge of supplies and equipment used by the department and their maintenance.
• Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with patients.
• H‑VAC experience is preferred, but not required.
