Custodial Job Description

Custodial is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of a building and the surrounding areas.

Their duties include vacuuming floors, sanitizing restrooms, and collecting trash to ensure the building’s occupants have a clean space.

Custodial main responsibility:

• Cleaning wood, tile, concrete, and carpet
• Shampooing rugs and carpets
• Emptying trash
• Cleaning vents
• Dusting all surfaces
• Waxing and stripping floors
• Cleaning restrooms
• Washing windows and doors
• Sweeping sidewalks
• Maintaining a thorough inventory
• Using equipment, commercial vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners

Custodial skills and qualifications:

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods
• Ability to lift and move over 50 pounds
• Knowledge of different cleaning products and tools
• Time management and multitasking abilities
• Organization skills
• Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision

Custodial education:
Must have high school diploma or GED
