The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general facility equipment. This onsite role supports the day-to-day operation of the facility by responding to maintenance requests, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a safe and functional work environment. The technician will conduct inspections, complete repairs, coordinate with outside contractors when needed, and maintain accurate maintenance records.
This position also involves seasonal responsibilities such as snow and ice management, along with general building upkeep tasks. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-conscious, and able to work independently in a fast-paced facility environment.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Knowledge of assembly processes
- Basic HVAC, electrical, and plumbing repair skills
- Experience with deck doors, dock locks, overhead lighting, and office lighting systems
- Interior painting experience
- Snow and ice management experience
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems
- Proficiency using hand and power tools
- Ability to diagnose maintenance issues and perform repairs independently
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in various environmental conditions
- Ability to follow safety standards and company policies
- Experience documenting maintenance activities and maintaining repair logs
- Experience working in a healthcare, manufacturing, or commercial facility environment
- Experience coordinating with third-party contractors and vendors
- Knowledge of building safety inspections and compliance procedures
- Inventory management experience for maintenance supplies and tools
- General knowledge of facility operations and preventative maintenance programs
- Multi-trade maintenance experience across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building repairs
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or maintenance tracking software
