Our client in Socorro, NM is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Preschool Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for young children (6-months to 5-years-old), staff, and families. The custodian will be responsible for daily cleaning, facility maintenance, and ensuring that all health and safety standards are met in accordance with state licensing regulations and school policies. This role is crucial in creating a welcoming and hygienic space that supports the well-being and learning of children.

• This is a Direct Hire position with the school
• Full-Time;
  Monday - Friday; year-round employment

• $12.97-$17.00/hour pending experience

• Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas
• Sanitize surfaces, toys, and equipment to meet health and safety guidelines
• Empty trash and recycling bins and replace liners
• Maintain floors by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and spot-cleaning carpets
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms, restock supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper), and ensure they remain in working condition

• Conduct routine inspections of the facility, addressing maintenance needs promptly
• Report repair needs or safety hazards (broken furniture, leaks, damaged flooring, etc.) to the Preschool Director
• Ensure outdoor play areas are clean, free of hazards, and well-maintained
• Assist with minor repairs, including fixing doors, furniture, and light fixtures
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request restocking as needed

• Follow all state licensing regulations, OSHA standards, and childcare sanitation guidelines
• Use only approved cleaning products that are safe for children
• Ensure classrooms and common areas meet standards for air quality and proper ventilation
• Support emergency preparedness by maintaining clear hallways, exits, and safety routes

• Assist with setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for events, meetings, and activities
• Support seasonal deep cleaning projects, including washing windows, shampooing carpets, and disinfecting large play structures
• Assist teachers and staff with moving furniture or supplies when needed

• PREFERRED Education: High School Diploma or GED, although it is not required!
• PREFERRED Experience: Previous custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance experience (especially in a school or childcare setting)
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and sanitation practices
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Dependable, punctual, and professional with good communication skills
• Must meet background check eligibility
