Maintenance Director of NHC Somerville and Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities: organize, direct, perform, and supervise the maintenance and repair program involving buildings and grounds. The Director coordinates maintenance and repair activities with other departments. The qualified applicant must have at least 2 years of experience in maintenance and various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and must be able to deal tactfully with patients and families.

Experience in a Long term care/Assisted Living facility is a plus.

Pay: Negotiable Depending On Experience

• Plans, directs, performs and supervises maintenance program including inspecting, repairing, and maintaining buildings, equipment, and systems (like plumbing, electrical, HVAC) to ensure functionality, safety, and cleanliness, often through preventative tasks, responding to work orders, performing general fixes (carpentry, painting, groundskeeping), and documenting all activities. Requires skills in troubleshooting, prioritizing, tool use, and following safety protocol.
• Orients, instructs and supervises other maintenance personnel.
• Requisition s supplies and equipment for use in department activities.

• High school graduate or graduate of a technical school.
• At least two years of experience in maintenance and various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals. Knowledge of local codes and ordinances. Knowledge of safety regulations.
• Ability to plan and carry out programs in repair or new construction and/or installation. Ability to direct others.
• Knowledge of record keeping and cost estimating.
• Knowledge of supplies and equipment used by the department and the care of this equipment.
• Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with patients.
• Requires on-call on some weekends and after-hours.
