Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Summary
Hourly rate: $27.00 per hour.
The Critical Support Technician role acts in a “floater” capacity, supporting multiple labs and locations as assigned by the Account Director(s). The position is designed to provide critical support across multiple client locations as directed by current business need. The Critical Support Technician will be assigned over multiple sites and may cover open positions, employee time off, vacation coverages, and emergency coverages, requiring flexibility in working hours and schedules.
EssentialFunctions
- Strong communication skills internal and external via text, email, telephone, and face to face.
- Respond to daily client/tenant requests and internal company requests in a timely, professional manner.
- Keep areas around buildings clean (laboratory space, property grounds, halls, loading docks, etc.).
- Receive/ship packages and reconcile packing slips with an understanding of temperature sensitivity.
- Basic carpentry and installation: mounting a shelf, installing a picture or whiteboards, and simple repairs.
- Basic tool safety.
- Monitor pressure gas/nitrogen and change cylinders/tanks safely and efficiently.
- Trained for safe hazardous waste handling of bio bins or bio‑waste disposal.
- Trained for cleaning and maintaining decon equipment.
- Maintain basic paperwork according to client/tenant needs.
- Basic knowledge of building and lab management systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including safety showers, autoclave, eye wash, and fire extinguishers.
- Maintain basic inventory.
- Be aware of different lab environments and safety levels, e.g., ACF GMP Clean Rooms.
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
- Six months prior work experience in a related work environment, illustrating good attendance, professional behavior, and reliability.
- Ability to follow orders given orally and in writing.
- Ability to complete tasks and paperwork with basic supervision.
- Computer skills (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Active driver’s license and personal vehicle may be required.
Small-to-large office environment. Fast‑paced work environment. Noise level usually moderate. Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments and shop environments. Regular exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, cleaning products, and noise.
Physical Demands- Manual dexterity sufficient to use hand tools and paint.
- Ability to stand, crouch, and climb to perform repairs, use ladder, and perform various types of manual labor.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Vision (with correction) sufficient for reading, performing repairs, and painting.
