Job OverviewThe Stationary Engineer performs skilled tasks such as repairs and adjustments necessary for proper operation of mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing but not limited to the following and in the priority instructed by Supervision.
Qualifications- High School Diploma, Technical School graduate or equivalent
- Three to five years in boiler operation
- Physical fitness to withstand repeated lifting, bending, squatting, stooping, prolonged standing and walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding
- Proficient in reading, writing, comprehending, verbalizing and speaking English
- Valid New Jersey Driver's License
- Valid New Jersey Blue Seal License 1-C

- Sunday: 3 PM - 11 PM
- Monday: 3 PM - 11 PM
- Tuesday: 3 PM - 11 PM
- Wednesday: OFF
- Thursday: OFF
- Friday: 11 PM - 7 AM
- Saturday: 11 PM - 7 AM
- Accurately perform chemical testing as assigned
- Accurately perform water treatment tests and record results
- Maintain a clean environment in the Power Plant (general clean up, painting, etc.)
- Install, troubleshoot and repair stationary equipment such as pumps, compressors, motors, sterilization and Power Plant machinery, etc.
- Complete boiler room logs in full including work performed, materials used, date and time prior to the end of the scheduled shift
- Ensure quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control compliance with code and regulatory agencies
- Demonstrate good communication and safety skills as they relate to all patient populations (infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric)
- Maintain inventory and coordinate with vendors for parts/equipment; prepare purchase orders and report to supervision
- Use professional courtesy when communicating by telephone, two-way radio, and in writing
- Exhibit high-level skill and knowledge in areas of specialization and application of relevant codes
- Provide leadership and train fellow staff members in assigned responsibilities; carry out duties found in the department
- Respond willingly to all requests by supervision
- Assist trades personnel with general helper responsibilities
- Assist and/or complete assigned work during non-routine circumstances such as snow removal, floods, fire, utility interruptions, etc.
