Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic

Job Title

The purpose of the position is to maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, modify, and inspect heavy mobile equipment, various support equipment, and special purpose vehicles.

Duties include:

• Repairs, adjust, overhauls, performs major repairs, and maintenance on military and commercial designed heavy mobile equipment and special purpose vehicles.
• Performs body repair and corrosion control, refinishes and repaints surfaces as required.
• Prepares, maintains and submits applicable maintenance work orders for man-hour and data collection accounting.
• Participates as OJT Instructor in the vehicle maintenance area.
• Assists in conducting the local occupational safety and health training program.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers.
• May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
• This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a state drivers license.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
• NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.

Qualifications include:

• Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to make repairs or the ability to assist with repairs.
• Specialized Experience WG-08: 12 Months Experience or training leading to a thorough knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operation, and working relationships of complex systems, assemblies, and parts for a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment.
• Specialized Experience WG-10: 18 Months Experience or training leading to a thorough knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operation, and working relationships of complex systems, assemblies, and parts for a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment.
