Facilities Maintenance Engineer

Talascend is currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Columbia, South Carolina
.

The main function of this role is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across multiple systems and facilities. The engineer demonstrates technical expertise in one craft area such as electrical, HVAC, piping/plumbing, or central utility plant operations, with multi-skilled capabilities in others.

• Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems to ensure standards are met
• Travel between multiple facilities to ensure proper operation
• Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, and general maintenance
• Maintain HVAC systems and equipment by cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts for optimal performance
• Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment
• Follow safety policies for hazardous materials storage, usage, and disposal; maintain a clean and safe workplace
• Conduct periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory
• Monitor the quality and cost of maintenance work performed by outside contractors
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and maintain safe work areas

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5-7 years of experience in maintenance and repair of commercial building systems
• Ability to analyze operation of various mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems and implement corrective actions
• EPA 608 Type II Certification
• Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel
• Valid driver’s license
• Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
