Under the direct supervision from the Director of Administration, a custodian at the State Office will work on a team to ensure their assigned areas are clean, sanitized, accessible and presentable at all times. In this position you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Clean and sanitize designated areas, buildings, bathrooms, office sand rooms.
- Clean floors using the appropriate equipment, such as, but not limited to a vacuum, broom, or mop and cleaning solution.
- Dust and sanitize surfaces.
- Empty trash and dispose of waste to designated area.
- Restrooms are cleaned, disinfected and stocked with paper products and toiletries.
- Complete any checklists of tasks and submit to supervisor at end of day.
- Clean windows and doors to include dusting sills and ensuring no spider webs or any debris is on or around them.
- Report any issues or concerns observed regarding facilities immediately to the Director of Facilities.
- Ensure grounds are presentable.
- Broom or blow the entrances to designated buildings.
- Water flowers and/or topiaries.
- All walkways are to be clear of any debris.
- Remove any weeds that are unsightly.
- Report any leaks in irrigation system immediately.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Maintain an accurate list of supplies.
- Request new supplies as needed.
- Ensure that supply closets are left neatly and orderly.
- Perform all tasks safely and compliant.
- Adhere to all Agency policies.
- Report any broken equipment immediately to your direct supervisor.
- Utilize proper signage while cleaning areas.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times.
- Utilize proper personal protective equipment.
- Maintain trainings and/or certifications in job-related areas.

- Be flexible with assignments as needs change with a vacancy on the team or absences.

- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Assist with set up or breakdown of any requested trainings and/or meetings.
- Duties will be completed accurately and within allotted time.
Considerable knowledge of cleaning methods, safety practices, equipment and supplies.
Ability to understand and carry out routine listings of supplies and prepare other simple reports and records.
Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
Physical abilities include balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting up to fifty pounds with assistance, grasping, hearing, smelling, and repetitive motions.
