Custodian-Burkman Valley evenings (2 positions)Job Description
Custodial worker responsible for cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining office and institutional buildings.
Qualifications- Ability to read and write and to follow oral and written instructions.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- No formal education required.
- Ability to do the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
This position performs a variety of custodial duties assigned on a daily basis by the supervisor and does not supervise subordinates.
Performance Responsibilities- Cleans and sanitizes floors, walls, furniture, restrooms, and other areas using appropriate chemicals and equipment.
- Scrubs, mops, waxes and polishes floors, vacuums and shampoos carpets.
- Collects and removes refuse, removes snow from steps and sidewalks, and moves and arranges furniture.
- Dresses and cleans windows.
- Reports needed repairs to supervisor.
- Operates cleaning equipment such as scrubbers and buffers.
- Performs other related work as required.
- Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, floors, ceilings, walls, furniture, windows.
- Removes garbage from buildings.
- Operates cleaning equipment.
- Provides assistance in training entry-level custodians.
- Adapts cleaning routines for large groups or unusual stains.
Daily contact with supervisor for duty assignments and with students/employees in the areas cleaned.
Working ConditionsUse of chemicals, working from ladders, on wet, slippery floors, and occasional exposure to cleaning equipment.
Performance MeasurementPerformance judged by visual inspections and written work schedule reviews by supervisor.
Terms of EmploymentTwelve (12) month contract. Salary, work, and benefits to be established by the Board of Education.
EvaluationPerformance evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of support services personnel.
