Position: Custodial Services Supervisor I
Location: Redfield

Job Summary

Custodial Supervisor – Full‑Time 40 hours per week, SD Developmental Center, Redfield, SD.

Salary: $18.45–$21.70 per hour, Pay Grade:

E. Closing Date: 07/31/26.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate custodial operations to ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and well‑maintained.
  • Oversee daily workflows, assign tasks, and provide training and guidance to custodial staff.
  • Monitor cleaning standards, enforce safety procedures, and promptly address sanitation or maintenance needs.
  • Manage cleaning supplies and equipment, support operational goals, and foster a positive team environment.
  • Arrange work schedules, assign work areas, conduct inspections, and oversee preparation and cleanup for special events.
  • Interview, hire, train, discipline, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, keep expenditures within budget, and recommend equipment replacements.
  • Identify and report facility or equipment repair needs.
  • Assist with hands‑on cleaning tasks such as dusting, scrubbing, waxing floors, vacuuming carpets, and washing windows and walls.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Experience supervising and training custodial staff.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, OSHA requirements, and safe chemical handling.
  • Basic facility maintenance skills.
  • Proficiency in scheduling, staffing, and workflow planning.
  • Inventory control for custodial supplies and equipment.
  • Physical ability to move, lift, carry, and arrange furniture, equipment, and other objects.
  • Ability to remove ice, snow, and debris from sidewalks, streets, and grounds to make areas accessible.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to a sanitary environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
