The Custodian position supports Facilities Management in maintaining classrooms, residence halls, and other buildings at Mount Holyoke College. The role maintains cleanliness of all academic, administrative and other assigned buildings, ensuring a least‑disruptive approach and preserving the historic beauty of the campus.

• General cleaning tasks at campus buildings
• Sweeping, vacuuming and washing floors
• Emptying waste receptacles
• Cleaning and disinfecting restrooms: toilets, sinks, countertops, mirrors, showers, and high‑touch surfaces
• Dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures
• Communicate building and safety concerns; report need for repair or services
• Snow removal assignments
• Additional duties as assigned

Sunday 6 am – 2:30 pm;
Monday through Thursday 4 pm – 12:30 am

• Adhere to a detailed cleaning program
• Willingness to work some weekends and holidays
• Flexibility for on‑call assignments and snow shoveling details
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Willingness to perform other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Reports to the 2nd shift Custodial Supervisor

• Handling hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, and supplies
• Exposure to chemicals and fumes, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and extreme weather related to heat or cold
• Noise level in some work environments can occasionally be loud

• Balancing, carrying, pulling/pushing, grasping, repetitive movement, standing, bending, reaching, sitting, twisting, and lifting
• Manual tasks: climbing stairs, lifting, climbing ladders, bending
• Lift 50 pounds unassisted, stoop or stand for prolonged periods

Mount Holyoke College will conduct background checks (CORI, SORI, Credit History, Driver Credential) for all new hires in accordance with policy.

$20.43 – $22.76 per hour
