Rec Services- Summer Camp Counselor

The South Holland Community Center is seeking enthusiastic and responsible Summer Camp Counselors to help create a safe, fun, and engaging environment for youth participating in our Summer Day Camp program. Camp counselors play an important role in supporting daily activities, building positive relationships with campers, and helping children have a memorable summer experience.

Summer Camp Counselors supervise and engage children in a variety of structured indoor and outdoor activities, games, and special events throughout the summer. Counselors help maintain a positive group atmosphere, ensure camper safety, and assist with day-to-day camp operations, including field trips and aquatic activities.

• Supervise campers and maintain a safe and inclusive environment at all times
• Lead and assist with recreational activities, games, crafts, and group events
• Accompany campers during field trips and special events
• Encourage teamwork, participation, and positive behavior among campers
• Communicate respectfully with campers, parents, and staff
• Follow all safety procedures, policies, and emergency protocols
• Help with setup, cleanup, and organization of program materials

This is a seasonal position.

• Applicants must be at least 16 years of age
• Must pass drug screening
• Applicants 18 years of age and older must complete background check
• Must be able to carry out oral and written instructions
• Must be available to work some evening, weekend, and holiday hours

A mandatory orientation meeting will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 9am at the South Holland Community Center, 501

E. 170th Place, South Holland, IL. Your application will not be considered unless you attend this meeting.

All qualified applicants will be interviewed at the orientation.
