Part-Time Public Services Assistant

South Holland Public Library is seeking a friendly, service-oriented Public Services Assistant to join our welcoming team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, learning new technologies, and working collaboratively in a community-focused and engaging library environment.
Flexibility, creativity, strong customer service, and teamwork are essential to success in this role.

• Provide friendly, courteous, and informative service to all library users
• Deliver efficient, high-quality customer service at the Information Desk
• Develop, schedule, and present programs for adult users
• Provide ready reference, readers’ advisory, and general assistance to users
• Teach basic computer and technology skills
• Assist, troubleshoot, and train users in the use of the online catalog, internet, databases, copiers, printers, and other library equipment
• Work collaboratively with library staff to support daily operations

• Associate degree or higher
• Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English
• Spanish-speaking ability is a plus
• Ability to work with Windows and MacOS computers and devices
  
  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Apple products, internet tools, and applications
• Ability to interact with users and staff in a friendly and professional manner
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 20 pounds and access all library areas and materials
• Availability to work daytime, evening, and Saturday hours (no Sundays)
• Reliable transportation

• Part-time position: 25 hours per week
• Starting pay: $19.25/hour (DOQ)
• Annual salary range: $21,320 – $30,030
• Benefits include IMRF participation and paid time off
