Description:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor will perform functions to coordinate the daily activities and workflow of the Quality Assurance Technicians, providing leadership, training, and supervision in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable law. The position is on the 2nd Shift.
Primary Responsibilities:- Compares and evaluates quality system programs procedures to implementation and provides recommended changes where needed.
- Oversees the implementation of food safety programs to ensure the safety of ingredients and finished products meet company requirements.
- Assist with the commercialization and implementation of new products, processes, equipment, and specifications. Provide QA support during product trials, process changes, and new product start-ups.
- Collaborates with production in the resolution of product inconsistencies.
- Review QA, HACCP, SSOP, and other food safety records daily for accuracy, completeness, and compliance; initiate or elevate corrective actions as appropriate.
- Partner with Production and Operations to identify and resolve product inconsistencies, process deviations, and quality concerns.
- Evaluates and updates pre-operational inspections, product hold status, and QA audits.
- Review and reconcile issues involving held, rejected, or non-conforming products and ensure appropriate documentation and disposition.
- Conduct analysis and evaluation of texture and tenderness on finished products versus standards.
- Acts as liaison to USDA personnel.
- Supervises day-to-day tasks and performance of QA Technicians
- Monitor sanitation performance prior to production start-up and work with Sanitation and Operations to address deficiencies and ensure acceptable conditions for production.
- Participates in the investigation and resolution of out-of-specification microbiological results, including environmental monitoring (PEM) and finished-product testing.
- Conduct and/or coordinate sensory, visual, flavor, texture, and tenderness evaluations of finished products against established standards and specifications.
- Support investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures related to food safety and quality issues.
- Performs other functions as assigned.
- Provide guidance, training, coaching, and ongoing development to QA employees.
- Monitor employee performance and provide timely feedback, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action when appropriate
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and other employment-related decisions.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and effective communication within the QA department.
- Ensure appropriate staffing and coverage of QA responsibilities throughout the shift.
- Ensure employees understand and consistently follow company policies, procedures, food safety programs, and quality standards.
- Lead by example and maintain a strong commitment to food safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in food science, other related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in a related role within a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of USDA regulations and quality assurance procedures.
- Knowledge of SPC, SSOP, and SOP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and collaborate with multiple departments. 50% of time will be spent standing/walking in cold conditions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as business and production needs require.
- Able to withstand walking and standing 40% of the time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds daily
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, industrial environment
- Frequent exposure to fluctuating temperatures, including cold and heat, depending on the production environment.
- Frequent exposure to operational noise from machinery in the production environment.
