Maintenance Mechanic

Role Overview: Located in South Holland, IL, this direct-hire Maintenance Mechanic position focuses on the 2nd shift (Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM, with occasional Saturday overtime). You will play a vital role in keeping our production facility running smoothly by performing essential repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on a variety of systems including HVAC, boilers, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration, and packaging machinery.

Success in this role requires a robust background in both mechanical and electrical systems, specifically hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, AC drives, and PLCs.

Required Technical Proficiencies:

• Expertise in hydraulic system maintenance.
• Proficiency in servicing pneumatic systems.
• Strong capabilities in electrical repair and diagnostic troubleshooting.
• Experience maintaining complex refrigeration systems.
• General mechanical repair skills to ensure equipment longevity.
• Competence in utilizing various hand and power tools.
• Skill in interpreting technical blueprints, service manuals, and documentation.

Core Responsibilities:

• Execute repairs and maintenance on plant machinery to ensure peak operational efficiency.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance to help minimize equipment downtime and improve facility reliability.
• Identify necessary parts and perform timely repairs to keep production lines moving.
• Service critical infrastructure including boilers, HVAC, air compressors, and ammonia refrigeration units.
• Troubleshoot and maintain complex systems such as AC drives, PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Provide technical support to production staff to help maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
• Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and improve overall maintenance practices.
• Utilize technical manuals and blueprints to support accurate equipment repairs.
• Coordinate with external vendors and manufacturers to resolve complex equipment issues.
• Keep supervisors and facility staff informed regarding system malfunctions or necessary modifications.
• Help maintain a safe and orderly work environment by strictly adhering to all facility safety protocols.
• Participate in ongoing training and workshops to keep your technical skills sharp.
• Follow all established company policies and operational procedures.
• Complete additional tasks as required by management.

Professional Requirements:

• A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory, while a technical school degree is viewed favorably.
• We prefer candidates with 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing maintenance setting.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude in areas such as machining, welding, metalworking, and blueprint reading.
• Fundamental understanding of electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and plumbing.
• Experience with PLCs, specifically Allen-Bradley systems, is highly desirable.
